Peace in Transition: A Paris Revelation for September
This past week, I took a solo trip to Paris — not for work, not for study, not with friends, but just me. Though I’ve been to Paris many times before, this trip was different.
It was my first paid trip since COVID, my first since being made redundant twice, and the first break funded by the job God blessed me with late last year.
Travelling solo is always unique — you’re left alone with your thoughts, your feelings, your surroundings. Yet this trip, I encountered God in ways that felt deeply personal and supernatural.
The revelation came as I was packing up my hotel room to head home. Normally, leaving a trip can feel like dragging yourself “back to life, back to reality.” But this time, I felt nothing but peace. Joy, even. It wasn’t the heaviness of returning to what I’d left, but the lightness of continuing where God was leading.
That’s the beauty of walking with the Lord — there’s peace in transitions. When you surrender your days, months, even years to Him, there’s no panic in closing one chapter, because every chapter is part of His story for your life. And unless you turn the pages, you’ll never discover the fullness of the book He’s writing.
Scripture reminds us:
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” — Isaiah 26:3
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14
“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who trust in Him.” — Nahum 1:7
Even Jesus stepped away to quiet places (Luke 5:16). Esther paused to fast before stepping into her divine assignment (Esther 4:16). These breaks weren’t retreats from their purpose, but sacred moments of preparation.
That’s what this trip was for me — not an escape, but a recharge—a moment where God reminded me that peace comes not from control, but from surrender.
As we step into September, I pray you’ll find that same peace in your transitions. Whether you’re ending a season or beginning one, know that God’s presence is what makes the journey light. You’re not going “back.” You’re going forward with Him.
