Love Languages | Biblical Actuality: Acts of Service

When we talk about love languages, Acts of Service are often defined as doing things for others—helping, cooking, cleaning, or serving in any way that lightens another’s burden.

But recently, I’ve been learning that love through service isn’t just about giving—it’s also about receiving.

Serving like Jesus

In Mark 10:45, Jesus said,

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Jesus embodied service. He washed feet, multiplied food, healed the sick, and ultimately gave His life for us. His entire ministry was one of selfless love. But even Jesus received—He allowed others to anoint His feet, to offer Him shelter, to prepare meals for Him.

From Martha to Mary

Lately, I feel like God has been calling me to shift from Martha to Mary. In Luke 10:38-42, Martha was busy serving while Mary sat at Jesus’s feet. Jesus didn’t condemn Martha’s service, but He gently reminded her that being present with Him was more important.

There’s a time for serving, but there’s also a time for being served, for sitting at His feet, for receiving nourishment—spiritually and physically.

Being Nourished is Kingdom Work

I was recently blessed by a dear brother in Christ who cooked a beautiful meal for me—a true act of service that reminded me of the importance of allowing others to pour into me as I pour into others.

I felt emotionally and spiritually nourished at my monthly business accountability group, Dominion Mandate—a space where we encourage each other in faith and purpose, not just financial success. Because business is a grace from God, and it flourishes best in conversation, accountability, and community.

How are you Experiencing God’s love through Acts of Service?
